Hi! I have played poker (Texas HE NL) for about 2 month.
I mostely play tourneys, with 100 or more people in. And I need as many tips I can get on how to win over so many people. My best place yet is 27/800. Would you (for an example) call with Q-8 off suit, or ducks (2-2)?
Is it better to play aggressive?

well they are pretty vague questions, but i will try to help you out. First let me say that i am not a tourney expert. The things i have learned from this forum, have made me better at them though. First couple of rounds of blinds, you generally want to play tight. Don't call with Q-8 for example. 2-2 try to see a flop for cheap. If you don't hit the third 2 on the flop, muck 'em. As the tourney goes on, start to loosen up a bit, but not crazy. (the early stages are all about survival) This is just basic stuff, i know. if you want there are many posts in this area that can be of more help to you. Good luck to ya.

1. It's a game. Have fun. If it's not fun, don't play. Never give yourself permission to play if you are tired, hungry or angry.
2. Only play with money you can afford to lose.
3. Accept the fact that the majority of players lose. Some losing streaks can go on for a very long time.
4. You are taking up a game that requires you to make decisions that won't always feel right. You must be brave of heart.

Stay in touch, this is a great place to come with questions.

Yeah it sound like you need some fundamental poker lessons before you engage in tournament strategy. But hey - don't we all

All good advice, but it really comes down to the following plan:

Think, analyze, read, think/analyze, play, think/analyze, think/analyze some more, repeat.
